I love flying Virgin America when I can! It’s like going into a night club… with kids. Anyway I was super psyched to get this assignment from my teacher. We had to show the key features of Virgin America in a motion piece. To make this look interesting, I wanted a lot of cool looking transitions. I also did not want this piece to look like something out of flash. So I based part of the design on construction paper. I asked myself what this piece would look like if I were done using stop-motion and paper. With that in mind, I added lots of texture to the various elements.

I based the female character off of two stock photos. I did the same for the body of the jet.

But the first step in my process was developing a story, boards, and finally an animatic.

This project had another level of fun because I got to do some foley work! With my trusty Tascam DR-40, I recorded the sound of pages being flipped to get the paper folding sound.
