Illustrator

Man… Did this project use up a bunch of blue ink! So in a type class I had, we had to make something that documented the various families of type. I was in the CCA library looking though old Graphis books and I saw this highly stylized blueprint for something. But I thought that the blueprint idea could work because I’m pointing out unique features of each family. So after many hours in illustrator I spit these bad boys out. There was an architecture student taking the type class with me, and she was like “blue prints don’t look that that anymore, and they are called plans!” And that is the story of how I named this project.

I got most of the type information from Robert Bringhurst’s book The Elements of Typographic Style. I highly recommend getting a copy. Not only is there a wealth of information, but the book is laid out beautifully.
